KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR CATALYTIC CONVERTER!
HI, EASTGATE RESIDENTS.
ARLENE just forwarded me an email from ANDY BERENTSEN, our liaison with TPD.
- - - Bottom Line: Watch out for your CATALYTIC CONVERTER. Crooks are stealing them.
**********************************
Good Morning All,
The Tallahassee area has noted a rise in the theft of Catalytic Converters
from vehicle exhaust systems. The converters are usually cut from the
vehicle exhaust pipe using a hacksaw or battery operated reciprocating saw.
Targeted vehicles are often Toyota trucks and SUV's due to the ease of
accessing the undercarriage without specialty equipment.
Catalytic Converters are slightly smaller than a muffler and were affixed to
stock exhaust systems on vehicles sold in the U.S. from the 1970's to
current. They contain precious metal in various quantities and are
increasing in resale value to scrap metal yards.
We have experienced this problem at various locations and times, including
daytime hours in public parking lots. If anyone sees anything suspicious,
such as people hanging out in parking lots and/or noises coming from under
cars, please call us (TPD) at 891-4200 and report it.
Thanks,
Andy B.

BINOCULARS FOUND
As you may know, on the weekend of June 6 & 7 there were several auto burglaries in Eastgate. [If you are on the "mailing list," then you received notice of this early in the week of June 8.]
Well, the point here is that shortly thereafter a kind neighbor found a pair of binoculars in their front yard.
So, if you are missing a pair of binoculars, please contact me "Boots," your EASTGATE NEIGHBORHOOD BLOGGER, at eastgate@comcast.net to recover your binoculars. I will put you in touch with your kind neighbors.

Hello,
The Tallahassee Genealogical Society is currently working on a project to collect stories from people who live, have lived, or have family who lived in Leon County. Gerald Ensley was kind enough to do an article in the Democrat on the project a couple of weeks ago. We need help in encouraging people to participate, and I wondered if it would be possible to send the following announcement to the people on your email list or post on your website. If someone from your neighborhood would like to submit an article about the community and its history, we'd love to have that as well. (See guidelines below).
Any help you can give us is much appreciated!
Regards,
Donna Heald
